🎯 What: The Express backend lacked authentication middleware for the API endpoints, specifically the /api/wp-upload-media endpoint, allowing unauthenticated file uploads.
⚠️ Risk: Attackers could upload arbitrary files to the WordPress instance via the proxy, potentially leading to remote code execution (RCE) if malicious scripts are uploaded, or storage exhaustion/abuse.
🛡️ Solution: Added express-basic-auth middleware configured to use the DASHBOARD_USER and DASHBOARD_PASSWORD environment variables and applied it to all /api and /api-content endpoints, ensuring only authorized dashboard users can interact with the WordPress proxy and other sensitive endpoints.
